How to get the best jobs in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics
What do you do if you’re not quite sure what to do?
Or perhaps you just need to get a job, but don’t know where to start?
You’re not alone.
For the last few decades, thousands of young people in Australia have turned to job websites and social media platforms for help.
These sites, which are increasingly being used to attract, train and reward young Australians, have attracted millions of new users and helped them to get jobs that are less likely to be available online.
These platforms also offer job seekers access to online job boards and forums, as well as information about the availability of positions, such as the average salary for each position and the number of job vacancies available.
But for many young Australians in Australia, job seekers have come to rely on websites like these to find a job.
What’s the problem?
The issue of job search can be complex.
It can be difficult to tell if a website is an employer’s or a job search website.
But, for some young people, it’s an issue that’s difficult to address because of a lack of knowledge of the labour market.
Job seekers often don’t have an understanding of the difference between a job and a job-search job, and may assume that only people who want a job should use a website to find one.
“The job search sites are really great because they give you information about what the labour markets are like, what skills people need, what jobs are available and so on,” said Victoria Jones, a 21-year-old from Melbourne who has been applying for a job for two years.
Jones says that she’s never heard anyone mention that she should get an education to find the best job.
“If I had known that, I would have thought to myself, I’d be more likely to apply for a more relevant job,” she said.
Jones is one of many young people who are now using job search platforms to find jobs online.
Jones has applied for a new job in a business that she believes is in need of some extra staff.
“I think it’s a great opportunity for a young person to get into the labour force and have a real chance to find an actual job,” Jones said.
She has also applied for the role of an administrative assistant, which is a position she says is not competitive.
Jones said she found it hard to find employment as a student, with a lack in a range of qualifications.
She also found it difficult to find work after she finished university, having dropped out due to lack of opportunities.
“Even if I’m going into the business with a great attitude, I’m still not really confident enough to get that job,” said Jones.
Jones now wants to find her way into the workforce after completing her bachelor degree.
“So far, I haven’t found the work I want, but I can still work in the industry,” she told Al Jazeera.
“That is why I’m looking for a role where I can really work hard, have experience and hopefully eventually be able to get on the same page.”
‘It’s not as hard as it seems’ For many young workers in Australia’s labour market, online job search is a viable option to get started in the workforce.
“It’s a lot easier to find and get a position that matches your skills than it is to apply through traditional means,” said Sophie Jones, Victoria Jones’s job seeker.
“There are no jobs on the market that are specifically for young people.
So, it is a much more flexible route to finding work,” she added.
Jones works in a manufacturing company that is looking for more skilled employees.
“When I was studying, I was looking for jobs for people who were interested in engineering or technology,” Jones explained.
“We need people who understand the manufacturing processes that are in our factories.”
She also said that it was important to find out what jobs exist in her industry, as some of the jobs may not match what she is interested in.
Jones’s employer is also looking for someone to work in an office environment.
“A lot of people will ask me to do work that is a little different from what they do,” Jones noted.
“They’ll ask me what they would be doing if they were not in the office, what I would be up to, or what it would be like to work remotely.”
Jones has had a number of success finding jobs in her field.
Her first job as a marketing manager was with an organisation in the manufacturing industry.
“One of the things that I’ve learned is that I can work from home and it’s not really as hard or as challenging as it sounds,” Jones told Al Jazeeras.
Jones believes that the popularity of the job search services such as LinkedIn and other platforms have led to more young people taking part in online job searches.
“What I’ve found is that there’s a huge amount of interest in jobs and there’s also a huge opportunity to get involved in the labour economy,” she explained
